Mongolia’s coal output up 118.2% in 2023

In December 2023, Mongolia produced 8.4111 million tons of coal, which was 35.53% higher than the previous year and 1.31% higher than the previous month. This marked the third consecutive month of growth. For the whole year of 2023, Mongolia’s coal output totaled 81.192 million tons, a 118.21% increase from the previous year.

In December, Mongolia’s iron ore output was 424,500 tons, a 71.58% increase from the previous year but a 22.34% decrease from the previous month. The details include 334,400 tons of iron ore, a 110.18% increase from the previous year but a 12.69% decrease from the previous month, and 90,100 tons of concentrate, a 2.04% increase from the previous year but a 44.93% decrease from the previous month. From January to December, Mongolia’s iron ore output totaled 7.6367 million tons, an 18.73% decrease from the previous year. This includes 5.3323 million tons of iron ore, a 30.41% decrease from the previous year, and 2.3044 million tons of concentrate, a 32.84% increase from the previous year.
