Kpler ship tracking data shows that in January 2024, Russia’s seaborne coal exports were 10.2552 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 10.91%, the sixth consecutive month of decline, and a year-on-year decrease of 26.50%.
In January, Russia exported the most seaborne coal to mainland China, reaching 2.7645 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 21.17% and a year-on-year decrease of 48.14%, accounting for 27% of Russia’s total exports.
Seaborne coal exports to Turkey were 1.496 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 24.57%, and a year-on-year decrease of 33.33%; exports to India were 1.3475 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 29.19%, and a year-on-year decrease of 24.26%.
Exports to South Korea were 1.2437 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 3.85%, and a year-on-year decrease of 42.60%; exports to Taiwan were 546,200 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 24.26%, and a year-on-year decrease of 8.01%.
