The darling of the coal industry this past quarter has been Australia’s Whitehaven Coal (WHC.AX), which just released earnings this week. The coal investment landscape since the bottom of the cycle in mid-2021 has basically been a race to see which producers can pay off their debt and subsequently start returning capital to shareholders.
