Preliminary statistics from Vietnam Customs show that in November this year, Vietnam (including foreign-invested enterprises) imported 4.9807 million tons of coal, a year-on-year increase of 112.05% and a month-on-month increase of 37.7%. It increased for the second consecutive month and hit a three-month high.
In October this year, Vietnam’s coal imports were 3.6171 million tons, while the import volume in November last year was 2.3488 million tons.
Data show that in November, Vietnam’s coal imports were US$688 million, a year-on-year increase of 59.06% and a month-on-month increase of 38.94%.
In that month, Vietnam imported the most coal from Indonesia, which was 1.8934 million tons, a 1.8-fold increase year-on-year, and a month-on-month increase of 34.46%; it imported 1.5702 million tons of coal from Australia, an increase of 14.15% year-on-year, and a month-on-month increase of 7.62%; it imported 729,800 tons of coal from Russia, Much higher than the 74,800 tons in the same period last year and the 180,700 tons in the previous month.
From January to November, Vietnam imported a total of 46.3477 million tons of coal, a year-on-year increase of 59.29%; the cumulative import volume was US$6.55 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.51%.
