Two people died in a safety accident at a coal mine in Xingtai, Hebei Province, China

According to Xinhua News Agency, on March 29, a safety accident occurred at the Gequan Mine of Jizhong Energy Co., Ltd. in Shahe City, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, and two people were trapped. After the accident, multiple departments launched emergency rescue operations. On the evening of March 30, Jizhong Energy’s official website issued a notice confirming the death of two trapped persons.

Jizhong Energy reported: At 4:42 on March 29, 2024, a roof accident occurred at the excavation working face of the 1277 material hauling tunnel in the East Shaft of Gequan Mine of Jizhong Energy Co., Ltd., causing two people to be trapped. After the accident, the mine immediately launched an emergency rescue plan, organized on-site personnel to carry out rescue work as soon as possible, and reported it to relevant departments according to procedures. Relevant leaders from the province, city, and enterprises rushed to the scene of the incident to direct the rescue work. Mine rescue, medical, public security and other departments actively participated in on-site rescue.

As of 18:50 on March 30, the on-site rescue was completed and the two trapped people died. The cause of the accident is under investigation and aftermath work has begun.
