Kpler ship tracking data shows that in December 2023, Russia’s seaborne coal export volume was 10.8213 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 9.97%, a month-on-month decrease for the fifth consecutive month, and a year-on- year decrease of 24.62%.
Russia exported the most seaborne coal to mainland China in December, reaching 3.072 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 28.11% and a year-on-year decrease of 48.51%, accounting for 28% of Russia’s total exports.
Seaborne coal exports to Turkey were 1.761 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 21.93%, and a year-on-year decrease of 21.46%; exports to South Korea were 1.1278 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 9.73%, and a year-on-year decrease of 47.36%.
Exports to India were 784,700 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 51.07%, and a year-on-year decrease of 45.83%; exports to Taiwan were 721,100 tons, a month-on-month increase of 0.65%, and a year-on-year decrease of 5.98%.
From January to December, Russia exported a total of 171 million tons of seaborne coal, a year-on-year decrease of 1.70%. Among them, 69.4885 million tons were exported to mainland China, a year-on-year increase of 18.57% ; accounting for 41%.
