Data from the Colombian National Institute of Statistics show that in 2023, Colombia exported a total of 60.2948 million tons of coal, a decrease of 1.05% from 60.9349 million tons in 2022. In 2023, Colombia’s cumulative coal export value was US$9.224 billion, a decrease of 24.94% from 12.289 billion tons in 2022.
In December 2023, Colombia’s coal export volume was 6.4721 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.08% and a month-on-month decrease of 11.91%. In the same period last year, Colombia’s coal exports were 5.4343 million tons, while coal exports in November 2023 were 7.3474 million tons.
In that month, Colombia’s coal export volume was US$813 million, a year-on-year decrease of 28.13% and a month-on-month decrease of 0.96%. From this, it is estimated that the average price of Colombian coal exports that month was US$125.63/ton, a year-on-year decrease of 39.64% and a month-on-month increase of 12.44%.
