Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that from January to December 2023, national coke, pig iron and steel production increased year-on-year, while crude steel production remained flat year-on-year.
Specifically: From January to December, the national coke output was 492.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Coke production in December was 41.28 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.8% and a month-on-month increase of 2.3%. Based on this calculation, the average daily coke production in December was 1.33 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 1.0%.
From January to December, the national crude steel output was 1.01908 million tons, which was the same as the same period last year. The output in December was 67.44 million tons, down 14.9% year-on-year and 11.4% month-on-month; the average daily output in December was 2.18 million tons, down 14.2% month-on-month.
From January to December, the national pig iron output was 871.01 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%. The output in December was 60.87 million tons, down 11.8% year-on-year and 6.1% month-on-month; the average daily output in December was 1.96 million tons, down 9.2% month-on-month.
From January to December, the national steel output was 1.36268 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%. The output in December was 108.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%, and a month-on-month decrease of 1.8%; the average daily output was 3.5 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 4.9%.
